   GUEST REVIEWS

We loved our time at Colombage, the perfect place to relax (as much as our one year old son Oliver would let us) He loved the garden and all the toys and enjoyed the warm pool. A great base for days out to Mont St. Michel. The D Day beaches and lovely local villages. We particularly enjoyed Avranches with the botanical gardens - great for the little one. Would recommend to friends and family who want a quiet and peaceful location with some of the comforts of home. James, Sue and Oliver Braily, Surrey. UK .

What a wonderful stay at Colombge, we couldn't have asked for anything more. The perfect gite in the most beautiful and tranquil setting and so well equipped. Neil and Christine were the perfect hosts and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. It was our first family holiday with our 9 month old baby girl and she loved every minute of it, but we think the pool was her firm favourite. Swimming 5 days out of the 7 certainly got her excited. A great base to see the local countryside, Mont St. Michel (fine with baby in a carrier). The zoo and Fougeres castle. Thank you for making our first holiday as a family so special. We will certainly receommend La Hallotiere to our friends. Bronia, Anthony and Emilia Sanders, Surrey. UK

We have had the most relaxing week here in Colombage. The Gite and surroundings are beautiful, and have totally rejuvenated us. Neil and Christine have been great hosts and a lot of fun. We couldn't have asked for a more pefect holiday. Perfect weather, beautiful surrounding and a pool as well! Spot on. Sue, Mark, Karen, John and Tom. Surrey. UK

We've had a lovely time, perfect relaxing holiday. Such a great place to stay - saw out a couple of birthdays in style. Hugs and kisses from Joe. Alec,Jude, Joe and Amy. Manchester, UK.

A little slice of heaven - a wonderful stay. Fanastic hosts, a beautiful gite, a really homely feel. All the little touches make this feel like a home rather than a holiday home. The pool is marvellous and very welcome in the hot weather we experienced. Beautiful location - great for exploring Normany. Perfect peace, the best sleep we have had in years, and what a view to wake up to. Thanks Neil and Christine for such a lovely break. Debbie and Colin, Surrey, UK.

Many thanks to Neil and Christine for being very warm and welcoming hosts. Loved the peaceful surroundings, just what we needed after a very stressful few months. We will recommend you to all our friends! Thank you from the four of us. Mike, Sue, Lauren and Alex, Leicestershire. UK

Lovely stay at Colombage. Kids loved their evening nature walks, especially the family of otters just down the hill. Red squirrels and 'Gilbert' the local bird of prey. If visiting Mont St. Michel take Neil and Christines advice and arrive before 9 am. We arrived at 9.30 and it was probably too late for a family with young children.... long queues for the abbey and crowded narrow streets. Well worth a visit though. Dinard and St. Malo are beautfiul, stunning buildings, elegant shops, nice restaurants. Carolles beach had everything we needed and great rock pools for the kids. Hours of fun with the croquet after we learnt the rules. Thanks to Neil and Christine for a great stay. We would love to return for longer. John, Angela, Hamish, Kip and Elizabeth. August

We could not have chosen a more perfect Gite in the whole of France. The views, the pool and our hosts Christine and Neil were brilliant. Villedieu les Poeles and Mortain are worth a visit. Robin, Rita and Isobel Wilcox, Kent, UK. August

Lovely week here in France. Beautiful views to wake up to every morning! The Gite was lovel and comfy, very homely. Thank you. Katie, Frank and Maisey. Wallington. UK September

A truly wonderful week in the beautiful french countryside. Perfect location and perfect hosts. Thank you so much Neil and Christine, your advice on places of interest to visit were so helpful. Really enjoyed Arromanche, a must see experience. Hope to come back. It's on my bucket list, we have never stayed anywhere quite as tranquil as La Hallotiere. Au revoir Colombage. Au revoir Therese. Sue and Mark Tamplin, Australia. September

Thank you Chris and Neil for giving us such a warm welcome and for being so kind and helpful. We loved our very comfortable stay here in Colombage, at La Hallotiere. A wonderfully quiet and peaceful setting and so lovely especially in the sunshine. Our week was full of good things - visits to excellent local markets, a fascinating tour around the Bell Foundry at Villedieu-les-Poeles, a moving visit to Utah Beach Museum and the beach itself. Au revoir Normandie, we loved our time here and hope to return one day. Bill and Juliet Drummond, Bromley, Kent. UK. September

Comments from guests about Stone House :

THANK YOU FOR A LOVELY HOLIDAY IT WAS AMAZING. I LOVED THE POOL AND CROQUET - KATY (AGED 9)
We have had a lovely week here in France. We really enjoyed using the pool and the croquet lawn and the BBQ (so nice not to have to cook!) We went to Mont St. Michel, lovely walk, enjoyed lunch in a cute little restaurant and went up as high as we could! Alligator Bay is described as 'Epic' by both Katy and Keiran (age 6) The really loved the tortoises. Champres Zoo is to be recommended too fantastic day.
We also visited the markets in Brecey and Villedieu les Poeles which was quite big and the homemade frites were awesome. Also, driving/stopping and having a look around the beautiful villages is also a must. Most of all a big thank you to Neil and Christine for making us feel so welcome! We loved the Stone House and the children enjoyed the pool and croquet. Thanks again. Talie,Chris, Katy and Kieran Mulhere, Edenbridge. Kent UK.

Arrived 26th July to a lovely welcome from Neil and Christine and a wonderful cottage called Stone House. We have been to quite a few places, Festyland - good for kids up to about 12/13 yrs. Mont St. Michel is well worth a visit and Alligator Bay near the bottom is an enjoyable diversion. Villedieu les Poeles is a really nice town. The Bayeaux Tapestry and Memorial Museum are a must. Lots of lovely villages around. Good Pizzeria in Brecey. A great time had by all. The girls (2 x 13 years old) didn't want to leave and neither did we. Thank you Neil and Christine for being kind hosts. Barbara, Simon, Phill, Imogen and Eleanor. :)

Thank you Neil and Christine for an enjoyable week in Stone House. We spent the days touring Normandy, and got a real taste of the French culture. On Sat. the day we arrived we got the train from Villedieu les Poeles to Paris! A fantastic trip, one which we would definitely recommend. The zoo was definitely worth it, you are allowed to pet the animals! We also made a trip to St. Hilaire de Harcouet - a great market. The Bayeux Tapestry was really fascinating and the town itself was nice to go around. The cathedral there is a must see.

Overall a great week! House was comfortable and the pool was great fun. The locals were friendly too and encouraged us to speak French with them! The Smyths, Ireland.

Thank you for a delightful crash zone! We so enjoyed meeting you and hope it won't be the last!

A lovely 2 weeks, blessed with the weather, so full use made of the pool! Harry and George loved it, even swimming at 7.30pm! Fougeres Castle worth a visit, Villedieu-les-Poeles great on a Tuesday for the market, really liked Avranches and Arromanches is worth a drive for the D Day Landing history. The beach at Carolles was superb, sand and rock pools, very happy boys! Neil and Christine, super hosts and a very happy stay - loved the chickens (Doris, Dot and Ruby) Thank you.

James, Fiona, Harry and George Craig - August 2015

The Thorns, Horsham, August 2015

Lovely Gite, just couldn't be matched by the weather! Seems we came the wrong week. When the sun did shine it was lovely. Really enjoyed the D Day beaches which are worth the drive. Make sure you visit the museum at Caen, it is amazing.

Scott, Zoe, Beth and Sam, August 2015

Have had a lovely 10 days weather very kind to us. A visit to Mont St. Michel is a must, parking very easy. Avranches is also a nice town. Vire is nice day out too. St. Malo was a lovely place, plenty to see and do. Chris and Neil made us very welcome. Chicken eggs very tasty! Hope to visit again real soon.
